How ride matching and dispatch works

Last updated March 10, 2026

GoRoute's dispatch system uses a real-time algorithm to match ride requests with available drivers. Understanding how this system works can help you position yourself for more frequent and higher-value trips.

How matching works

When a rider requests a trip, GoRoute's system evaluates all online drivers in the area and selects the best match based on several factors:

  • Proximity: Drivers closest to the rider's pickup location are prioritized, as this minimizes wait time.
  • Estimated time of arrival: The system accounts for traffic conditions and road layout, not just straight-line distance.
  • Driver rating: Higher-rated drivers may receive priority for premium ride types like GoRoute Comfort and GoRoute XL.
  • Acceptance rate: Drivers with consistently high acceptance rates are considered more reliable and may be favored in tie-breaking situations.

Ride types

GoRoute offers several ride tiers, and you may be eligible for more than one depending on your vehicle:

  • GoRoute Standard: The default ride type, available to all approved vehicles. Seats up to 4 passengers.
  • GoRoute XL: For vehicles that seat 6 or more passengers. Fares are higher than Standard rides.
  • GoRoute Comfort: A premium tier for newer vehicles with above-average legroom and high driver ratings (4.85+). Passengers pay more for a quieter, more comfortable ride.

Batched and stacked requests

During high-demand periods, GoRoute may send you a new ride request before your current trip ends — this is called a stacked request. Accepting it means you'll be routed to the next pickup immediately after drop-off, minimizing idle time. You can see the estimated pickup location and fare before deciding whether to accept.

Tips for getting more rides

Position yourself in or near high-demand areas shown on the heat map. Driving during peak hours — morning commutes, evening rush, and weekend nights — also increases your chances. Keeping your acceptance rate high and your rating above 4.85 ensures you're eligible for all ride types and priority matching.
