Handling passenger pickup at airports and venues

Last updated February 25, 2026

Airports, stadiums, and event venues are among the busiest pickup locations for GoRoute drivers. These locations often have special rules and designated areas that you'll need to follow to avoid fines and ensure a smooth experience.

Airport pickups

Most major airports use a virtual queue system. When you arrive at the airport's designated waiting lot (sometimes called a staging area or holding lot), you're automatically added to the queue based on your arrival time. When it's your turn, you'll receive a ride request from a passenger at the terminal. Do not wait at the terminal curb without an active request — airport authorities may issue tickets to unauthorized vehicles.

Each airport has specific pickup zones, usually on the arrivals level. The GoRoute app will direct you to the correct terminal and zone. Riders are asked to provide their PIN code at airport pickups, which you must verify before starting the trip. This ensures you're picking up the correct passenger.

Stadium and event pickups

Large venues like concert halls and sports stadiums create intense demand spikes when events end. GoRoute designates specific pickup zones near these venues — look for the GoRoute pickup sign or follow the in-app map pin. Surge pricing is common during these periods, so positioning yourself near the venue before the event ends can be very profitable.

General tips

  • Follow all posted signs and traffic officer instructions at pickup locations, even if they conflict with the app's navigation.
  • Keep your doors locked until you've confirmed the rider's name and destination.
  • If a rider isn't at the designated pickup spot, use the in-app messaging or call feature rather than circling the area.
  • Be patient — large venue pickups often involve heavy pedestrian traffic and slow-moving lanes.
